New Moon in Cancer
The Moon comes home tonight, meeting the Sun in the sign she rules and there's a gentleness to that which I don't think we're always taught to trust. We're so used to new Moons meaning goals and vision boards and five year plans. This one isn't asking for any of that. It's asking what actually makes you feel safe. Not what looks safe from the outside. What feels like home in your body.
Mercury is still moving backwards through Cancer as this new Moon lands, so don't be surprised if old conversations or old feelings come knocking again tonight, wanting to be heard properly this time. And there's a square to Saturn in Aries sitting underneath it all, which I read as an invitation to look honestly at where we've mistaken a wall for a boundary. They're not the same thing. One protects you. The other just keeps you alone.
What I love about this particular new Moon is what it's quietly leading into. Within days the sky begins building toward what's being called Barbault's Basket, that rare gathering of Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto that André Barbault wrote about decades before any of us were watching the sky for it. He believed configurations like this mark real turning points, not just for us individually but for the collective. I've written a longer piece on this on my blog if you'd like to go deeper, you can find it at www.westend-medium.com. Whatever you plant tonight in this quiet, watery, Cancerian soil, know you're planting it right before the wider world tips into something much bigger.
Be gentle with yourself tonight. Let yourself feel what you feel.
